40 Years

Here we are folks: December, Christmas right around the corner, and the holiday rush has kicked in– foot to the floor! I can remember photographing cars at our Winter National show in February like it was last month. And now I’m making plans to attend our 2014 show in less than 8 weeks. When I was younger, my folks always used to say, “Wait ’til you get older, time just seems to go by faster and faster.” It’s only been the past couple of years that I’ve realized they were right.

In light of my opening comments, can you believe we’re celebrating 40 years of this club and magazine? The inaugural issue of the Classic Chevy Club’s publication was in December of 1974. For those of you who have been with us from the very beginning, does that seem like four decades ago? Besides the kick-off of the Club’s 8 page black and white magazine, what else was going on back in ’74? Well, Gerald Ford was our nation’s president. We lost funnyman Jack Benny. The NY Yankees signed Jim “Catfish” Hunter to a record 5 year, $3.75 million dollar deal. I was a Junior in high school. How ’bout you?
