Fifty Years Since Mankind’s “Giant Leap”

Idle Thoughts Believe it or not, classics fans, this July 20th marks the fiftieth anniversary of the first crewed voyage to the moon. One of the most important milestones in human history, the moon landing marks humanity’s first foray into the final frontier of space. Commander Neil Armstrong, together with pilots Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle on the moon on July 20, 1969, at 20:17 UTC. Armstrong became the first human being to step onto the lunar surface six hours later, followed by Aldrin, while Collins piloted the command module Columbia in lunar orbit.
