Please Leave My Fob Alone

Car keys and clunky key fobs needed to enter or start cars could be joining the cassette player, retractable antennas and other outdated automobile components.  Several major auto parts suppliers are developing keyless car entry systems, linked to smartphones and requiring no key or electronic fob.  While auto makers have already begun offering mobile applications that allow drivers to unlock or start cars remotely, they currently require that a key fob be in the cabin before the car will move.  Metal car keys have largely give way to chunky electronic fobs and push-start dashboard buttons.
