Thanks to Steve, I’m cruising again!

56-chevy-1Charles Perry gets back into the Tri-5 world, courtesy of his son.

As told by Charles Perry • Cantonment, FL

My love affair with Tri-5 Chevys began in 1955; my senior year in high school. It grew ever more intense in March 1958 when I purchased a ’55 Chevy convertible, turquoise and white, with a V8 engine and 3-speed transmission.

Immediately I started to improve it by hopping up the engine with a Duntov Cam and three 2-barrel carburetors; a 4-speed transmission and a 4.56 rear end. Next, I removed all of the hood and trunk chrome and gave the ’55 a white paint job, with a white nylon top.
