Michael Alexander’s ’57 Bel Air is a Twentieth-Century Treasure My wife Judy and I purchased our 1957 Chevy Bel Air two-door hardtop, with 72,000 miles, in September 2000 on a lead from a friend. A woman was selling off her late husband’s small Chevy collection, and the little two-door caught our eye. The purchase price was $8,000. Her husband had owned the vehicle since the mid-‘70s, and he had it outfitted as a ‘70s hotrod, with such features as Keystone mag wheels, a Corvette 327 motor with four-speed transmission, Sun mechanical gauges and a Sun super tach mounted on the dashboard.
